Seattle Leadership

  • Regional Director, United States
    X

Chris is responsible for our United States practice’s strategic growth and performance. With decades of experience in high-performance design and operation, his approach is rooted in the philosophy that sustainable design must constantly evolve to suit the technology available, in balance with the client’s goals and objectives. With this in mind, Chris interfaces with clients and leadership to develop business and explore new markets.

  • Principal, Seattle

John Weale has been involved as a lead designer or key technical adviser on Integral Group’s highly sustainable projects, including six LEED Platinum Certified, three net zero and one Living Building Challenge project. In the green building sector, John specializes in cost effective mechanical systems that provide the efficiency needed to earn most, if not all, of the LEED Energy Efficiency points (EAc1). An integrated approach with close team coordination makes building architecture, lighting and mechanical system work together as single system is key in creating simple, high efficiency and low cost systems.

In the high technology sector, John has designed many high-efficiency systems for technology companies, laboratory buildings, museums and manufacturing buildings with specialized cooling, ventilation, exhaust and pressurization control requirements. He is a specialist in: passive design; central plants, including modular central plants utilizing absorption (waste heat driven) and electrical chillers; optimizing exhaust air energy recovery (run around coils, flat plate heat exchangers, enthalpy wheels and heat pipes); optimizing fan systems; efficient development of robust control sequences; and controls commissioning.
