Oakridge Centre Redevelopment
Integral Group provided sustainable master planning services for the redevelopment of existing 1.1 million ft² inner-city shopping mall. This 4.7 million ft² development will comprise of 1.2 million ft² mall and commercial retail, 430,000 sq ft office, thirteen residential buildings ranging from eight to forty-four stories with a total of 2.9 million ft², a civic center all built over three levels of underground parking. Integral Group’s scope of work included optimization of passive design elements of proposed new developments, as well as identifying synergies between the variety of building typologies to recapture and reuse energy and resource flows among them, while reducing operational and embodied carbon associated with the entire site.
In addition to identifying energy sharing and saving strategies Integral Group also conducted a low-carbon energy supply feasibility study, developing four options for energy system configurations. Each option was then evaluated in the broader context of District Energy System (DES) feasibility analysis along the surrounding redevelopment area (Cambie Street corridor). With the initial screening study now completed, Integral is currently developing the Oakridge development-scale system to be fully compatible with the future DES.
Integral Group is also be providing full mechanical, fire protection engineering design, energy modelling and sustainability services for this world class community-building project. We have worked in a coordination capacity with a broader consultant team to develop a comprehensive approach for a wide variety of sustainability outcomes including: energy, water, solid waste, carbon, embodied carbon, envelope performance, rainwater management, local food, and low carbon transportation and affordable housing.
