Magic Johnson Park

Introba provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, energy modeling, fire protection, and technology services for Magic Johnson Park & Community Center in Los Angeles, CA, United States.

Phase 1A of the Earvin “Magic” Johnson Recreation Area Master Plan is the first of six to completely renovate and expand the existing 104-acre site into a 120-acre recreational area. Introba (formerly Integral Group) provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services for the park’s buildings and electrical utility coordination for the site.

The 20,000 ft² community center features a slanted roof across a divisible, multi-modal community space. The owner did not want any AV equipment racks on the floor, only a single equipment room controlled from a single control touch panel in each space. Creating such a seamless, centralized system demanded a high level of coordination between Introba’s technology, MEP designers, manufacturers, and the installation team. The integrated design resulted in no visible wires, speakers masked cleanly into existing architectural elements, electric screens nested into the ceiling, and the single touch panel as the only user contact point with AV equipment.

The 22-acre core of the park also includes a wedding pavilion, an outdoor amphitheater, and a civic plaza. Additional amenities will include a sculpture garden, reflecting pool, splash pad, picnic shelters, a children’s play area, entry gate and kiosk, parking, and walking trails.
