Introba provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering services for the Huntington Medical Research Institutes’ Biomedical Research Building in Pasadena, CA, United States.

This state-of-the-art biomedical research facility houses much of Huntington Medical Research Institutes (HMRI)’s diverse scientific research staff under one roof.

Introba (formerly Integral Group)’s design includes a central air distribution system infrastructure to support flexibility of the laboratory spaces, a high-efficiency hydronic heating plant and distribution system, and a redundant power distribution system for essential loads such as lab refrigerators and freezers utilizing an engine generator as a backup power source. The design also takes full advantage of its solar orientation to protect the building from heat gain while allowing natural light into interior workspaces.

The project, constructed in phases, includes a laboratory, offices, clinics, and other functional spaces. The building features abundant glass walls, enhancing a feeling of transparency and collaboration for the scientists working there.
