Confidential Education Facility

This education facility is a private pre-k through 6th grade school located in the Sierra Foothills. Integral Group utilized Dark Sky-sensitive exterior lighting to balance function, beauty, and natural environment at the site, and indirect lighting to enhance the expressive architectural ceilings and promote visual comfort. The architectural use of Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) ceilings required special attention to lighting for both performance and detailing. The Light Studio created physically accurate and precise visualizations of the lighting design to understand the interaction of detailed wood screen elements and light.

Daylighting analysis was provided to tune classroom windows, skylights, and overhangs while balancing the shade contributions of mature site trees. Shading criteria were also provided to maintain visual comfort in the gymnasium.
