Banff Elementary

The Banff Elementary School is a replacement school for the Town of Banff, located in Banff National Park, designed for approximately 550 students from grades K-8.

The building is LEED Gold certified and is designed to be Net Zero Energy Ready per the Town’s requirements. The building envelope required mechanical and electrical systems to be optimized to be as energy-efficient as possible.

The highly-insulated building envelope works alongside the mechanical and electrical systems to deliver modeled energy cost savings of 73%, compared to the LEED 2009 reference building. Additionally, the design features 140kW of PV solar panels to produce clean, silent energy.

Sustainability through clean and considerate construction practices was integrated seamlessly into the construction process as most construction activities took place adjacent to an active school within a National Park.
