Design Tech High School, in Redwood City, received PCBC’s 2018 Gold Nugget Grand Award for Best Educational Project on June 28. PCBC is focused on the art, science, and business of housing. Woodside Priory School also received an Award of Merit in the same category.

The Gold Nugget Awards annually recognizes national and international projects that display the highest levels of innovation throughout the building process from design to development. Merit Award Winners were selected from 700+ applicants, and from there the Grand Award winners were narrowed down.

Design Tech High School is a 550 student charter school, founded in 2014. The institution provides students with college prep by creating a foundation for them to develop creative design and technology skills. The Design Realization Garage is a maker space at the school that provides students with a hands-on experience to create, invent, and learn. These features paired with a warehouse-style interior, open labs, and break-out rooms embody the requirements set forth by the Gold Nugget Award.

Introba (formerly Integral Group) worked closely with Oracle, DES Architects + Engineers, and XL Construction to create this innovative space.
