The Shelton


The Shelton is a mixed-use, four-story, 103,000 ft² wood frame building constructed atop a parking garage providing 108 parking spaces below grade. A concrete podium atop the parking deck offers street-level retail space for local merchants. The 94-unit building contains apartments with a mixture of configurations. Designed to comply with a form-based zoning code, the Nauck Village Center Action Plan, this 94-unit multi-family residential building is the first significant component of the revitalization effort in the Nauck community.

Integral Group performed a high-level design to fulfill the owner’s mission to bring much-needed affordable housing to Arlington. The four-story, 103,000 ft², u-shaped building creates an urban street edge and a landscaped interior courtyard. Other amenities include a community room and a computer lab. Sustainable design strategies range from additional stormwater management to a highly efficient building skin to a selection of high SEER-rated mechanical equipment and Energy Star appliances.
