Pedley, Mantus/Malcolm + Repton Street Development

This new build residential development in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets consists of over 600 new homes. The project involves redeveloping three separate sites, Repton Street, Pedley Street, and Mantus/Malcolm Road. It will include housing facilities, shared and private amenity spaces, child play areas, and a new community center.

Elementa Consulting’s services for this project consisted of the built environment, energy, and engineering services. Energy services required for the project include Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4, BREEAM requirements for the community center, and renewable and CO₂ aspects. Acoustic services were also considered, given the proximity to the noise sources in the area.

The design uses district heating systems incorporating heat interface units in individual dwellings. By getting involved at the early stage of the design, the team could influence the holistic approach to the design of the schemes. This allows for commonality in the approach of the services design while tailoring aspects to specific needs of the development.

Elementa Consulting undertook load calculations for the developments to enable initial dialogue with statutory utility companies and design into the scheme the relevant requirements for electrical substations, water metering strategy, and landlord gas supply for the heating district schemes.
