Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati Catholic School
Integral Group provided mechanical and electrical engineering for the Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati Catholic School, a standalone K-8 school for the Toronto Catholic District School Board. The project incorporates several green initiatives such as reusing greywater, daylight harvesting and using low-emissive VOC materials with recycled content.
The building is not fully air-conditioned as part of a new environmentally responsible initiative for the TCDSB. Instead, it uses displacement ventilation, best practice sun shading techniques, and a high-quality building envelope to create comfortable conditions while reducing operating expenses and maintenance.
The 467-pupil elementary school includes purpose-built classrooms for full-day kindergarten and multi-purpose spaces for specialty programs and after-hours use.
