Neil leads the building performance engineering team for Integral Group’s west coast offices. He provides design strategies for thermal comfort and low energy systems in buildings, leveraging world class energy & analysis simulation tools and years of experience in building science and HVAC.
Neil provides design consulting support that goes back to the basics in using simulated models and focusing on illustrative options, while always asking how a design feature provides true value to the people experiencing a proposed environment. Relying on expertise in thermal comfort, daylighting, systems design, and energy, Neil and his team deploy models to validate designer-driven ideas and test designer posed questions.
Neil provides technical design support on net zero energy projects, all facets of energy and comfort regarding LEED certification, and submission and documentation of code compliance and utility incentives. Using research-grade simulation tools, such as EnergyPlus and Radiance, along with best-in-class digital environments like Rhinoceros and Autodesk’s Revit, his team builds on years of design and analysis experience to align high performance tools with key design solutions and questions. They are active users of a multitude of energy modeling tools, including VE-IES, OpenStudio, EnergyPlus, Trnsys, Trace, and eQuest.
