August 30, 2010- It is with great pleasure that I announce that Rumsey Engineers is now fully part of Integral Group. As you probably know, in November 2009 we were acquired by Integral Group, headed by CEO Kevin Hydes, who is well known as a world leader in sustainability. We are now taking the next step and changing our name from Rumsey Engineers to Integral Group.
I’m often asked why I decided to become part of a larger organization rather than continuing with a smaller firm that had been so successful in the past. The reason is that we are ready to scale up the pace of transforming our building practices. The market, and the planet, is ready for large scale sustainable development, and having more capabilities over a much larger area will get us there faster.
With four offices across the United States and an international network of affiliates, we provide a full range of building system design and strategic energy management services, with a staff widely regarded as innovative leaders in building system design: we’re leading the U.S. in LEED Platinum buildings and continue to be widely recognized for our ground-breaking yet practical design solutions. We now have some new, excellent resources available to us that will allow us to continue to grow while retaining the innovative spirit and approach to design that we had when we first started out with a handful of dedicated, passionate engineers.

Over the last 14 years, since I started an engineering company in my garage, we’ve been extremely fortunate to work with a wide range of excellent clients, vendors, consultants, and engineers on our team- together we have changed building practices to be more sustainable and energy efficient. I look forward to many more years of joining with you to make the best, lowest energy buildings on the planet.
