Chicago Climate Exchange

Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) is a financial institution whose objectives are to apply financial innovation and incentives to advance social, environmental and economic goals through the following platforms. CCX is North America’s only and the world’s first global marketplace for integrating voluntary legally binding emissions reductions with emissions trading and offsets for all six greenhouse gases.

Alameda County Green Business

The Bay Area Green Business Program is a successful partnership of environmental agencies and utilities that assists, recognizes and promotes businesses and government agencies that volunteer to operate in a more environmentally responsible way. To be certified “green,” participants must be in compliance with all regulations and meet program standards for conserving resources, preventing pollution and minimizing waste. We offer motivated businesses and agencies an easy-to-use framework for improving environmental performance. Over 850 businesses and public agencies have been certified since 1996.

U.S. Green Building Council

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a non-profit composed of leaders from every sector of the building industry working to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work. Their more than 10,000 member organizations and network of 75 regional chapters are united to advance their mission of transforming the building industry to sustainability. The USGBC’s core purpose is to transform the way buildings and communities are designed, built and operated, enabling an environmentally and socially responsible, healthy, and prosperous environment that improves the quality of life.

NON-PROFIT SUPPORT

We support several local and national non-profit organizations by matching donation programs and other forms of support.

Lincoln Child Center

Lincoln Child Center is a non-profit organization that provides mental health services for children and families living in Oakland and the Bay Area through residential, educational, and community based programs. Their mission is to enable vulnerable and emotionally troubled children and their families to lead independent and fulfilling lives.

Earth Island Institute

Earth Island Institute is a non-profit, public interest, membership organization that supports people who are creating solutions to protect our shared planet. For 25 years, Earth Island Institute has been a hub for grassroots campaigns dedicated to conserving, preserving, and restoring the ecosystems on which our civilization depends.

International Development Exchange (IDEX)

IDEX is a San Francisco based non-profit organization that partners with grassroots groups in Asia, Africa, and Latin America while actively engaging and educating North Americans about the challenges facing communities in these regions. Since 1985, IDEX has channeled over $3.3 million to fund more than 500 self-help community projects working for social change and economic independence for people, particurlarly women, indigenous people and youth, who earn less than $1 a day.

Rocky Mountain Institute

Established in 1982 by resource analysts Amory B. Lovins and L. Hunter Lovins, RMI is a broad-based institution with approximately fifty full-time staff, an annual budget of nearly $6 million (more than half of it earned through programmatic enterprise), and a global reach. RMI brings a unique perspective to resource issues, guided by the following core principles: Advanced Resource Productivity; Systems Thinking; Positive Action; Market-Oriented Solutions; End-Use/Least-Cost Approach; Biological Insight; Corporate Transformation; The Pursuit of Interconnections; and Natural Capitalism.

INTERNAL PROGRAMS

We have instituted the following internal programs to do our part to reduce pollution and demonstrate our commitment to the environment.

Recycling—East Bay Conservation Corp

Our recycling provider is the East Bay Conservation Corps. a comprehensive, nonprofit educational organization located in Oakland, California. Its mission is to promote youth development through environmental stewardship and community service and to further education reform and social change. Through service-learning – the practice of linking academic learning with service that meets real community needs – EBCC engages young people from all walks of life in their education and development while addressing environmental and social issues. For nearly two decades, EBCC’s program models have enhanced participants’ academic, leadership, employment and life skills, self-esteem, civic responsibility and environmental awareness.

In House Bicycle Repair Program

To encourage better commuting practices, we offer our employees an in-house company-sponsored bicycle repair program. Once a month, bicycle repairs can be made onsite for any employee who rides a bike to work.
